The King and Queen seem to be looking to their left and not directly at us as if they were watching something being carried out in their honour. Jousting? They are barefoot, which is peculiar. Each monarch's head and crown seem to be fused together. Their body language couldn't be more different. The queen is regal and poised. The king is nervous, and his right hand seems to betray his wish to be anywhere but here. Moore's sculptures tell a thousand stories. And never disappoint.
