Mulla Nasrudin hated giving sermons, but he had been ordered to give three.
“Do you know what I will talk about?” He asked on the first day.
“No.” Answered the crowd.
“Why should I speak to such an ignorant crowd?” Asked Nasrudin.
And he walked away.
“Do you know what I will talk about?” He asked on the second day.
“Yes.” Said the crowd, confident that this was the answer the Mulla was looking for.
“Then, why should I speak to you if you already know?” Said Nasrudin.
And he walked away.
“Do you know what I will talk about?” The Mulla asked on the third day.
The crowd had done their homework, so one half replied, “Yes” and the other half replied, “No.”
“Will the half that knows, please inform the half that doesn’t.” Said Nasrudin.
And he walked away.
